SSC CGL 2025 PYQ — Question 66

SSC CGL - 25 Sep 2025 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q66

A regular triangle and a regular hexagon have equal areas. What is the ratio of their sides?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e.  6\sqrt{6} : 1.

Let each side of the equilateral triangle = a cm and the regular hexagon = b cm

Area of equilateral triangle =34a2= \frac{\sqrt{3}}{4} a^2

Area of regular hexagon =332b2= \frac{3\sqrt{3}}{2} b^2

34a2=332b2\frac{\sqrt{3}}{4} a^2 = \frac{3\sqrt{3}}{2} b^2

⇒ a24=3b22\frac{a^2}{4} = \frac{3b^2}{2}

⇒ a2 = 6b2

⇒ a/b = √6/1

⇒ a : b = √6 : 1
