A rectangular garden 20 m × 14 m has four full circular flowerbeds of radius 2 m placed within it. What is the area left for grass?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

Area of the rectangular garden = 20 × 14 = 280 m²

Area of one circular flower bed = π × 2² = 4π

Total area of four flower beds = 4 × 4π = 16π ≈ 50.3 m²

Area remaining for grass = 280 − 50.3 ≈ 229.7 m²
