SSC CGL - 4th March 2020 Shift 3 • Reasoning • Q98

A product was marked for sale with a label price, which is at a 20% discount on the printed price. At the time of sale, the shopkeeper gave an additional 10% discount on the label price. If a customer bought the product at Rs. 468, then what is the printed price of the product?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e Rs. 650.

Understanding

Let the printed price = 100x

Labelled price = 100x - 100x of 20% = 80x

10% discount on labelled price = 80x - 80x of 10% = 72x

According to the question;

468 = 72x

x = 6.5

Printed price = 100x = 100 × 6.5 = 650
