A person travels equal distances with speeds of 4 km/h, 6 km/h, and 8 km/h. He takes a total time of 32.5 minutes. Find the total distance travelled by him.

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 3 km.

Let each equal distance = x km

Total time = 32.5 minutes = 32.560=1324{32.5\over60}={13\over24}

Time taken for each part:

⇒ x4+x6+x8=1324\frac{x}{4} + \frac{x}{6} + \frac{x}{8} = \frac{13}{24}

⇒ 6x+4x+3x24=1324\frac{6x + 4x + 3x}{24} = \frac{13}{24}

⇒ 13x24=1324\frac{13x}{24} = \frac{13}{24}

⇒ x = 1

Each distance = 1 km

Total distance = 3 × 1 = 3 km
