Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. Rs.166623Rs. 1666 \frac{2}{3}.

Let the person's salary = 100x

Amount spent on daily use goods = 25x

Remaining income = 100x - 25x = 75x

Amount spent on house rent = 0.18(75x) = 13.5x

Remaining income = 75x - 13.5x = 61.5x

Amount spent on travel = 0.16(61.5x) = 9.84x

Remaining income = 61.5x - 9.84x = 51.66x

So, 51.66x = 861

⇒ 100x = (861/51.66) × 100 = 1666231666 \frac{2}{3}

Therefore, the person's salary is Rs. 1666231666 \frac{2}{3}.
