SSC CGL - 21 April 2022 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q73

A person's salary was decreased by 50% and subsequently increased by 50%. BY what much per cent does his salary increase or decrease?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. Decrease 25%

Calculations:

Let the initial salary be Rs 100

According to the question:

Salary was increased by 50%

New salary = 150% of 100 = Rs 150

Now, the salary is decreased by 50%

Final salary = 150 × 50% = 75

The required decreased in salary = 100 - 75 = 25

Hence, required percentage = (25/100) × 100 = 25%
