A person covers equal distances at the speeds of 3 km/h, 4 km/h, 7 km/h and 12 km/h and takes a total of 340 minutes to cover the distance. What is the total distance (in km) covered by him?

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 28 km.

Let the equal distances covered be D km.

According to the question, D3+D4+D7+D12=34060\frac{D}{3} + \frac{D}{4} + \frac{D}{7} + \frac{D}{12} = \frac{340}{60}

⇒ 28D+21D+12D+7D84=346\frac{28D + 21D + 12D + 7D}{84} = \frac{34}{6}

⇒ 68D84=346\frac{68D}{84} = \frac{34}{6}

⇒ D = 7 km

Total distance = 4D 

⇒ 4 × 7 = 28 km
