Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 2000

Understanding

Application

Suppose the number = x

Number is first increased by 20% and then reduced by 15%

New number = x × 1.2 × 0.85 = 1.02x

Now,

1.02x = 2040

⇒ x = 2040/1.02

⇒ x = 2000

Hence, initial value of number = 2000
