A ladder is resting against a wall, The angle between the foot of the ladder and the wall is 45° and t the foot of the ladder is 6.6 m away from the wall. The length of the ladder (in m) is :

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 6.6 × √2.

We know that,

cosθ = B/H 

here, B = Base and H = Hypotenuse

Now, according to the question

Let the length of the leader be L m

cos 45 = 6.6/L

⇒ 12{1\over\sqrt2} = 6.6L{6.6\over L}

⇒ L = 6.6 × 2\sqrt2

So, 

The length of the ladder is  6.6 × 2\sqrt2 m
