SSC CPO - 29 June 2024 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q148

A is 25% more than B and B is 30% less than C. If C is 20% more than D, then by what percentage is A more than D?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 5 %.

Let the value of D be 100x.

According to the given question,

C is 20% more than D.

⇒ C = 120% of D

⇒ C = 120100×100x{120 \over 100} \times 100x

⇒ C = 120x

B is 30% less than C.

⇒ B = 70% of C

⇒ B = 70% of 120x

⇒ B = 84x

Now, A is 25% more than B.

⇒ A = 125% of B

⇒ A = 125% of 84x

⇒ A = 105x

Required difference = 105x - 100x

⇒ 5x

Now percentage of A more than D = 5x100x×100{5x \over 100x} \times 100

⇒ 5%

Hence A is more than D by 5%.
