SSC MTS 2022 PYQ — Question 59

SSC MTS - 25 July 2022 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q59

A hollow spherical shell is made of a metal of density 2.5 g/cm3. If the external and the internal radii of the given sphere are 35 cm and 14 cm, respectively, find the mass of the shell.[Use 227\frac{22}{7}]

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 420420 g

Volume of hollow sphere = 43\dfrac{4}{3}π(R3 - r3)

where R = External radius and r = Internal radius

Volume = 43\dfrac{4}{3}π(353 - 143)

⇒ 168168cm3

If density of metal is 2.5g/cm3 then the mass of the shell will be

168168 x 2.5 = 420420 g
