A field is in the shape of a trapezium whose parallel sides are 260 m and 100 m. and non-parallel sides are each of length 100 m. What is the area (in m²) of the field?
Show answer & explanation
Correct answer: B
Explanation
The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 10800

ABCD is a trapezium
AB = 100, CD = 260, BC = AD = 100
AB = EF = 100 cm and DE = FC
CD = DE + EF + FC
260 = DE + 100 + DE
2DE = 260 - 100 = 160
DE = 160 / 2 = 80
In △BFC:
BC² = BF² + FC²
(100)² = BF² + (80)²
BF² = 10000 - 6400 = 3600
BF = = 60 cm
Area of trapezium = ½ × (260 + 100) × 60
= 360 × 30 = 10800 m²
