SSC CGL 2022 PYQ — Question 19

SSC CGL Tier II - Quant - 3 Feb 2022 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q19

A cylindrical tube, open at both ends, is made of a metal sheet which is 0.5 cm thick. Its outer radius is 4 cm and length is 2m. How much metal (in cm3) has been used in making the tube?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 750 π\pi

Outer radius (R) = 4 cm.

Inner radius (r) = 4 - 0.5 = 3.5 cm.

Length of the cylinder = 2m = 2 × 100 = 200 cm.

The volume of the metal sheet is used = π(R2−r2)h\pi (R^2 - r^2)h

= π\pi(16 - 12.25) × 200 = 750π\pi
