A customer availed a 10% discount on the purchase of a table and paid 4,950 for it. How much money would he have saved if he had bargained to get 12% discount?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. Rs. 110

Concept USed:

S.P.=M.P.×(100−D)100S.P. = M.P. \times {(100 - D) \over 100}

Explanation:

Let the marked price of the table be Rs. x.

According to the given question,

The selling price when the discount is 10% = x×90100x \times {90 \over 100}

⇒ 4950 = x×90100x \times {90 \over 100}

⇒ x = 5500

Now, selling price when the discount is 12% = 5500×881005500 \times {88 \over 100} = 4840

The money saved in the bargain = 4950 - 4840 = 110.

Hence the required answe is Rs. 110.
