SSC CPO 2025 PYQ — Question 134

SSC CPO - 9 Dec 2025 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q134

A container holds 120 litres of a solution containing milk and water in the ratio 3:2. If 24 litres of this solution are taken out and replaced with pure milk, what will be the new ratio of milk to water?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

Milk = 72 liters, Water = 48 liters

24 liters of the mixture were withdrawn →

Milk withdrawn = (3/5) × 24 = 14.4

Water withdrawn = (2/5) × 24 = 9.6

Remaining quantities →

Milk = 72 − 14.4 = 57.6

Water = 48 − 9.6 = 38.4

Now, 24 liters of pure milk were added →

Milk = 57.6 + 24 = 81.6

Water = 38.4

Ratio = 81.6 : 38.4 = 17 : 8
