SSC CGL 2025 PYQ — Question 56

SSC CGL - 13 Sep 2025 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q56

A cone and a hemisphere have the same volume and base radius. Find the ratio of the height of the cone to its base radius.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 2:1.

Let the base radius of cone and hemisphere be r.

Volume of cone = 13πr2h\frac{1}{3} \pi r^2h

Volume of hemisphere = 23πr3\frac{2}{3} \pi r^3

Given, 13πr2h\frac{1}{3} \pi r^2h = 23πr3\frac{2}{3} \pi r^3

⇒ h = 2r

⇒ h : r = 2 : 1
