SSC CGL 2025 PYQ — Question 55

SSC CGL - 19 Sep 2025 - Shift 2 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q55

A chord of a circle has a length of 2212\sqrt{21} cm. The distance of the chord from the center is 5 cm. What is the radius of the circle?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 6.78 cm.

Chord length (AB) = 2√21 cm

Half chord (AP) = (2√21)/2 = √21 cm

In ΔAPO, AO =AP2+OP2= \sqrt{ AP^2 + OP^2 }

Radius =(21)2+52=21+25=46= \sqrt{ (\sqrt{21})^2 + 5^2 } = \sqrt{21 + 25} = \sqrt{46} ≈ 6.78 cm
