A, B, and C invest in a business in the ratio 2 : 3 : 5. After 4 months, A increases his capital by 50%, B decreases his capital by 13\frac{1}{3}, and C leaves the capital unchanged. At the end of the year, if the total profit is Rs. 33,000, find the share of B.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. Rs. 7,700.

Initial ratio of A, B, and C = 2 : 3 : 5

After 4 months (remaining 8 months):

A increases by 50% ⇒ A = 2 × 1.5 = 3

B decreases by 1/3 ⇒ B = 3 × 2/3 = 2

C (unchanged) = 5

Ratio of capitals = (4 × 2 + 8 × 3) : (4 × 3 + 8 × 2) : (12 × 5)

= 32 : 28 : 60

= 8 : 7 : 15

B's share = (7/30) × 33000 = 7700
