Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4 i.e 5.8%.

Understanding/Application

Let the salaries of A, B, and C be a, a, and c respectively.

Donation of A, B, and C are 0.08x, 0.07x, and 0.09y

0.08x - 0.07x = 259

x = 259/0.01 = 25900

Total donation of A and B = Donation of C + 1185

0.08x + 0.07x = 0.09y + 1185

0.15x = 0.09y + 1185

0.09y = 0.15(25900) - 1185

0.09y = 2700

y = 2700/0.09 = 30000

Total donation of A and C = 0.08x + 0.09y

= 0.08(25900) + 0.09(30000)

= 2072 + 2700

= 4772

Total salaries of A, B, and C = 25900 + 25900 + 30000 = 81800

Thus, the percentage = [(4772 × 100)]/81800 = 5.8%
