SSC MTS - 15 July 2022 - Shift 2 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q61

A 200 m long train is running at a speed of 100 km/h. In how much time will it pass a man standing near the railway line?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 7.2 sec.

Distance = 200 m

Speed = 100 km/hr

Distance = speed × time

Speed(in m/s) = Speed(in km/h) ×518\times {5 \over 18}

Speed of train(in m/s) = 100×518100 \times {5 \over 18}

Required time = 200100×518200 \over {100 \times{5 \over 18}}= 2×185{2 \times 18}\over 5 = 7.2 sec

Hence the required time to pass a man standing near the railway line is 7.2 sec.
